An international conference of queer Buddhists is necessary because past experience has shown that it is difficult to meet within the settings of other conferences. The topics we are dealing with are relevant in general Buddhist conferences. Therefore, it is necessary to reflect on our situation, to network, and develop our positions. The title „1st International Queer Buddhist Conference“ should not express that this conference is the first of its kind. We hope that it will be the first in a series of conferences in the real world and on different continents. Here we would like to record the results such that future conferences and discussions can build on them.

Call for Contributions
We are planning the „1st International Queer Buddhist Conference“ for October 23 – 24, 2021, this year online. Now we are inviting you to share your ideas for talks, workshops, meditations, or other interesting contributions that you can offer. Accepted submissions will be digitally published in the conference proceedings.
Panel Presentations:
1. Buddhist Feminisms – Feminist Buddhisms
2. Peace in the Community: How can we work together respectfully and effectively, and gain societal support?
3. Proud to be a Buddhist Rainbow Warrior
4. Diverse Rolemodels in SyFy movies and Buddhism
5. Monastics and LGBTQQIA+
The subjects mentioned above can also be used as topics of regular submissions, workshop proposals, meditations, or other contributions that you may like to offer.
You may submit a paper of arbitrary length, but the corresponding talk needs to fit in 15 minutes, so a panel discussion can be held afterwards. For workshop proposals, a short description (max. 1 page) is sufficient. Workshops should be planned for a maximum of 90 minutes. All submissions should include a short biography (max. 250 words) of the presenter or workshop organizer, respectively.
